Shoe retailer Skechers has opened their second Irish outlet in Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork, having taken up a 214 sq m (2,303 sq ft) unit on a 10-year lease. International real estate advisor Savills advised landlord Deka Immobilien in the letting, at a rent of approximately €700 per sq m per year.
The retailer, which stocks footwear for casual walkers, gym-goers and professional athletes, opened its first Irish store on Dublin’s Henry Street in October 2010. At Mahon Point Skechers occupies the unit between Boots and Clarks on the lower ground floor and joins well-known high street brands including Zara, Monsoon, Next, River Island, Debenhams and La Senza.
Peter O’Meara, Director at Savills Cork, says:"We believe Skechers will be a great addition to the existing line-up of retailers at Mahon Point. The fact that the footwear company is opening its second store in Ireland is evidence that the Irish retail market is picking up momentum."
